Our story
As a new mom, I quickly found out how challenging raising a bilingual child can be. When I didn't find the Vietnamese books I wanted for my daughter Gemma, I created the books I needed! What started out as a fun project/idea turned into the passion project you now know as Gemma’s Library. In May of 2021, I created the original Em Hoc Tieng Viet book exploring the Vietnamese alphabet as a gift for my daughter and nieces. But I loved it so much, I wanted to share it with other families who may be struggling to find bilingual Vietnamese resources like I was.
Since publishing our Vietnamese Alphabet book, we now have 8 bilingual Vietnamese-English board books and 2 educational toys/activities in our Library!
I believe representation matters and these books & toys are a great way to encourage children to learn a new language in a fun, interactive and meaningful way!
Làm cha mẹ mới, chúng mình nhanh chóng phát hiện rằng, việc nuôi dạy con trong môi trường song ngữ thật là khó khăn. Tìm kiếm sách tiếng Việt thì mình cảm thấy ở Mỹ không có quá nhiều lựa chọn, nên mình quyết định tự viết cho con và các cháu của mình. Và kết quả mình thật yêu thích, nên mình muốn chia sẻ nó với các bạn!
Mình hy vọng gia đình các bạn cũng yêu thích cuốn sách này như gia đình mình vậy! Cảm ơn sự hỗ trợ của mọi người!
